WASHINGTON GAME WARDEN ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP
The Washington Game Warden Association (WGA) will present a scholarship to one deserving student who shows good character and appreciates the great outdoors. The scholarship will be awarded to a graduating high school senior who will attend a college or university in the coming academic year or to a currently enrolled college student. This scholarship is based on merit (curriculum, GPA, community service), is for one year (non-renewable), and is in the amount of $500.
Eligible candidates must be enrolled or planning to enroll in a natural resource or criminal justice field of study.
There is no application form. An applicant must provide the WGA Scholarship Committee with the following.
- A typewritten essay outlining
- why he or she is applying for the scholarship
- extracurricular activities (job, volunteer work, hobbies, etc.)
- goals to be accomplished in college and afterward
- how receiving this scholarship will be an advantage
- the essay must have the applicant’s name, address, phone number, and intended major at the top of the first page.
- A transcript through at least the first semester or second trimester of the senior year (high school) or the most recent college year.
- Two letters of recommendation from any of the following:
- school counselor or administrator
- head of organization where student performs volunteer work
- employer
- other reliable source who is well-acquainted with the student’s goals, activities, and other good moral qualities.
- Proof of acceptance to the college or university of the student’s choice. Required only after selection by WGA Scholarship Committee.
Please note: failure to provide the minimum requirements outlined above will result in disqualification.
