Washington State borders the Pacific Ocean and the Puget Sound. WDFW Officers patrol these areas for both recreational and commercial harvest of fish and shellfish. They also work jointly with Federal Fisheries Officers to protect endangered marine mammals, specifically the orca/killer whale. Officers have a large task in maintaining compliance amongst all participating groups. Some interesting stories regarding their efforts are listed below.
